About Me
What constitutes a "hot" beatmaker? Better yet, what constitutes a "good musician"? Is it the use of the same 808 kicks, snares, string and synth melodies that has saturated the sound of everyday rap music or is it the ability to use a complex combination of live instruments, ordinary sounds and an unorthodox blend of noises that hasn't been heard for years or not heard to this date... or maybe a proper combination of both?

Pete Drummz has been putting the theory to the test ever since he first fell in love with music... "anyone can make a beat... but it takes skill to make a sound to match the artist you make a beat for." The Detroit native producer/artist has been making music since before he even really knew he was... .his first beat machine was anything in sight, from the school's lunch tables to a plastic cup and pencils. Not only does his influence come from everything around him but from every style of music as well. With his father being born in the States and his mother from Nigeria, the blend of growing up around modern jazz, classical motown sounds, and the drums and traditional instruments of Africa played a major role in shaping his universal sound and all-around ear for music... so he knew that he was born to do it. Drummz (born Nnamdi Irving) began making beats while a freshman in high school and knew he had something to offer when he began getting the attention of the kids in and out of his school, let alone more experienced producers. But only until the middle of his senior year did he decide to take his music more seriously.

While being 1 half of the Beatsmiths, the group performed shows around the city of Detroit, guest-performing for Jig at State Theater, and also had their song "Bang" debuted on FM 98 WJLB but decided to focus more on his production after the group split up. Pete Drummz has been making music (seriously) for 6 years, but still calls himself a newbie to the game and sees himself yet to earn his stripes. He still considers himself a student to an industry that changes in technology and sound everyday, but continues to utilize the old sound, while always keeping up with the new... thus improving his skill. Although he has caught the attention of super producers like R. Kelly and has many projects in the works with many up and coming artists from Detroit to California to Atlanta, he has also caught the attention of the international audience as well and is soon to take his sound back to Nigeria, across the motherland, and abroad. Through all this, he remains focused, determined to take the world by storm by honing his craft and creating a name for himself... "I don't want to be just another producer or artist... i want to be known for what i do and that providin' a sound that hits the soul. Makin' music is an art form...so I don't make beats, I make GOOD music, period."
