We’ve been watching a lot of old movies on our www.DirectStarTV.com channels this holiday season and it got us thinkingwouldn’t Christmas movies be better with rap soundtracks? Here are a few of the rap artists we wish would consider coming out with some holiday tunes next year
Will Smith: We know calling Big Willie a rapper’s a bit of a stretch but can you imagine what kind of rhymes he’d put down when it comes to the holidays? Come on Will, bring us the tunes!
L.L.Cool J: He hasn’t done much in years but LL sure knows how to bring the party, so why not the Christmas party? He’s just mainstream enough to make this new hypothetical genre work and we can see our parents jumping on the bandwagon, too
Rihanna: She’s got the golden voice that’s perfect for transitioning from melodies to verses and she knows how to keep the beat up. Rihanna is so hot right now she can’t do anything wrong which is why she’s perfect for bringing about a new wave in Christmas music.

Writing a rap song is a creative form of expression. Whether you want to share your raps with others or for personal enjoyment, it can be a way to express your personality and help you deal with the trials of life. Here are some tips to getting you started composing your own rap songs.

Write what you know.
To keep your rap songs personal and relevant to your own life and others’, discuss topics that you’re most familiar with. This could mean previous relationships, challenges in your family life, or any of the day to day struggles that you face. Writing about what you know ensures that your rap songs come from a significant place.

Choose a beat.
An important aspect of a rap song is that it has a catchy beat. Aside from the lyrics, the beat is the one of the most vital elements of a rap. You can come up with your own beat to fit the lyrics but don’t be afraid to sample a beat from one of your favorite rap songs.

By writing about subjects that you’re familiar with as well as choosing a creative beat to go with the lyrics, you are well on your way to writing a great rap song.

Rap music has come from a long line of artists who began the genre in an attempt to protest the modern society that they believe wronged them throughout the years. Created by African Americans who were tired of listening to a system that never seemed to care about them, Rap has evolved into something completely different over the years. It’s more akin to the punk music of the 70s, which was also started out of a pure hatred for the political and social system which was in place at the time. Now Rap has evolved to become one of the biggest revenue-producing machines of all time.

Rap started out with artists like Run DMC and Public Enemy. These artists had a lot in common, including their abrasive lyrics and the ability to spread a message of conflict and hardship to their fan-base. Artists such as Onyx and even Nelly continued this message throughout the 1990s and they were all very successful in communicating it to their fans. Now, people like Lil’ Wayne and even Souldja Boy have taken over, bringing words of non-conformity and hardship to a new audience of people who are still enjoying Rap to this very day.

Rap is one of the most controversial types of music. The reason it is so controversial is because it dares to speak on real life crime and violence. Sometimes it has been taken the wrong way and rappers who were simply telling stories about their lives have been viewed as being fans of violence. There have also been rappers who were viewed as womanizers and woman haters. Tupac Shakur was one of those rappers.

In 1993 Tupac released a very influential song that would still be remembered this day. It let the world know how he really felt about black women being mistreated in the world either sexually, verbally, or mentally. The name of that song was “Keep Ya Head Up” which was also the message that he was sending to black women who had gone through any kind of struggle.

In 1995 Tupac released another influential song named “Dear Mama”. This was a tribute to his mother and a show of great respect for women who had to raise children on their own. In this song he thanked his mother and told her he loved and appreciated her for making him the man that he was.

Tupac Shakur had a long list of meaningful and influential songs. he will be deeply missed.

Rap often gets a well, bad rap, excuse the pun. Many people think of rap artists as “gangsters” and “thugs” and maybe many of the artists in this genre portray themselves as such, but this is not always the case. There are quite a few artists in rap today that are making a tremendous difference in the world whether through community involvement, financial charitable contributions or through using their fame for something great.

Take for example, Jay Z, one of the top earning rap artists of today. Jay Z has had several high profile charitable acts seen by many (1 million pledged to Hurricane Katrina victims and music for relief), but many people are unaware of just how involved he is the effort to bring to light the issue of the global water shortage.

Another great charitable giver, unlikely as it seems, is rap music’s original bad boy, Snoop Dogg. Snoop has held several events that have raised a considerable amount of money for several charities. He auctioned off an hour with him in the recording studio to raise money for Habitat for Humanity. He also organized a charity basketball game to raise money for the Save a Life Foundation.
